HOW
TO... BIG THANGLES™
Save
hours! BIG Thangles™ are the
fast, easy and accurate way to make big half-square triangles. (And have
perfect points, too!) With BIG Thangles™ you cut
rectangles, so you don't struggle with bias fabric. And BIG Thangles™
uses a special ink that allows you to press with the paper on providing
for more stability and accuracy. The special breakaway paper tears
away easily--no tugging!
Each
package of BIG Thangles™ contains enough sheets to make a typical
full-size quilt or four baby quilts. Available in
4.5", 5.5", and 6". The sizes listed are for the
finished size of the half-square triangle $5.50 per package.
Step 1. Cut
rectangles of the light and dark fabrics to the size printed on the
template. For example, for the 5" finished size half-square
triangle, you cut 5 1/2" x 6 1/4" rectangles. Layer the pieces
with right sides together.
Step
2. Line up one end of the BIG Thangle™ template with the corner of the
fabrics. The corner of the fabric will show and the lines on the BIG
Thangles™ will match the edges of the fabrics. Pin the corner.
Step
3. Line up the other end of the BIG Thangle™ with the opposite corner
and pin. Pin in the center of the BIG Thangle™.
Step
4. Start sewing at the arrow. Sew on the dotted line to the end of the
template. Pivot and sew the other dotted line.
Step
5. Cut on the solid line, open and press. Leave the paper on for
pressing to prevent stretching of the bias. Cut off the one dog ear.
Tear away the paper.
